Letecia Saunders

Director, Masar Career Excellence · Ajman University

Sharjah, United Arab Emirates

Letecia Saunders runs Masar Career Excellence, Ajman University's career development centre, and founded My Job Shop, a platform that connects students with employers.

Worth knowing

She has spent twenty years building the bridge between classrooms and employers across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific and Africa, in higher education as well as technology, energy and mining. She also works on how generative AI gets folded into teaching rather than bolted onto it. Canadians recruiting graduate talent in the Gulf, or building education and employability products, should write.

Story

Letecia trained in New Brunswick, taking a marketing diploma at NBCC and a TESL certification at the University of New Brunswick, then added graduate study at Humber College and Athabasca University. Her work took her abroad, and in the UAE she founded My Job Shop to connect students with employment, then built Masar Career Excellence at Ajman University with colleagues there, starting with a careers and industry catalogue in 2024 and standing up the centre as its director. In 2025 she turned to how generative AI belongs inside teaching, writing a framework for it and presenting the work in Sharjah. She works in French as well as English, with some Arabic.

Canadian story

Grew up in Saint John, New Brunswick, and landed in Toronto and Montreal, working and living there for several years, with the best in community that I am still close to. Moved abroad to UAE and still there today, with the occasional bout of homesickness and always looking forward to my next visit home. I am a global higher-education and talent-development leader with 20 years of experience across higher education, technology, energy, and mining sectors, working across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, and Africa.
