Mark has spent fifteen years underwriting agriculture and food-system technology in India, from first cheque to board seat, and he has raised capital for it from development finance institutions and global foundations. He knows how corporate agribusiness thinks, having run strategy and M&A inside one. Founders building in agritech or climate, and investors looking at India, should write.
Story
Mark started in 2001 as a strategy consultant at PFM, moved to Syngenta as a strategy manager, and in 2008 joined Godrej Agrovet as Executive Vice President for strategy and business development, running corporate strategy, M&A, R&D and new business incubation. There he and Jinesh Shah started a corporate venture fund of about $30 million, and in 2016 they took it independent as Omnivore. A $75 million first independent fund followed in 2018. Today Mark runs the firm from Dubai, investing in agrifood innovation, rural transformation and climate action.
