Gaurav Bansal has reviewed more than 20,000 pitch decks and financial models, and runs AMG Venture Partners as a partner to incubators, angel investors, VC funds and family offices.
Worth knowing
He has written cheques into 50+ startups globally, mostly pre-seed and seed in AI/ML, and sits inside 550+ angel syndicates, most of them American, which is a rare line of sight into who actually funds early rounds. He coaches founders on fundraising readiness across the US, Canada and LATAM. Worth writing to if you are raising a first round and want to know why it is not closing.
Story
Gaurav started as a technology consultant at IBM working in business intelligence and data analytics, then moved into investment banking in India, where at Axis Capital he worked on the $145M sale of Au Housing Finance to Partners Group and Kedaara Capital and a $1,600M QIP fundraising for HDFC. Stints at Nomura and IIFL Wealth followed, then the shift to venture: Pentathlon Ventures, a B2B SaaS AI/ML fund, and Holt Xchange, where he was the second full-time employee. Now based in Mississauga, he runs AMG Venture Partners and spends much of his time with Canadian founders, advising at VentureLab's Hardware Catalyst Initiative and serving as Capital Executive-in-Residence at Toronto Metropolitan University's Brampton Venture Zone.
