Dharti Desai Chatterjee runs marketing for two of Ontario's landing pads for international founders, TBDC in Toronto and BHive in Brampton, after two decades of brand work at DuPont.
Worth knowing
She knows what it takes for a founder from India or the Gulf to land in Canada and start selling here, and she has built the demand engines at the two Ontario programs that receive them. She has also run corporate reputation and crisis communications for global industrial brands, and coaches founders one on one.
Story
Dharti spent the first half of her career inside large industrial companies, leading corporate brand communications at DuPont in India, including the Power of Shunya campaign, and later running regional communications for Baker Hughes in India's east. Agency work followed at BPG Group in Dubai, where she directed corporate, technology and industry accounts. She moved to Canada five years ago and now leads growth at the Toronto Business Development Centre and at Brampton's BHive, two programs built around entrepreneurs arriving in North America, and was recognized at the CanadianSME Small Business Awards in 2023. Alongside that she is an accredited executive coach and teaches crisis communications and corporate reputation.
In Dharti's words
20+ years of building demand in new geographies, categories and segments. DuPont, Shell and Baker Hughes across India and the MENATI region, agency and consulting years in Dubai on KPMG, Honeywell, Spotify and L'Oréal, and Canada for the last five. I lead growth at a Toronto accelerator and a Brampton incubator, where my work runs in both directions: global founders coming into Canada, and Canadian companies going out to Europe. I also run an advisory practice, coach founders, and am writing a book on small business leadership.
