Few people have sat on both sides of the tech story: he has explained AI, blockchain and consumer tech to network television audiences, and he has built the programs that connect Google to newsrooms. He knows how to make a complicated product legible to journalists, media buyers and the public. Founders working on AI, media or anything that needs a credible public voice should write.
Story
Daniel started out in 1998 as a daily reporter at the Vancouver Sun, covering tech, business and civics after degrees at the University of Victoria and UBC. Television followed: six years at CNN, where he also edited the CNN.com sci-tech section, then CBS News, then a consumer tech show at ABC. In 2011 he published a book on breaking tech addiction and joined Google, where he spent six years building Google for Media and the News Lab. Since leaving Google he has co-founded two startups, one in blockchain journalism and one in digital legacy, and held senior marketing roles at Moody's Analytics and Huawei USA. He now builds ScreenGeni.us from New York, where he lives with his two daughters.
