Rosco Hill backs founders from inception at Co:Build Ventures, after building Perpetua from 40 people to more than 200 and selling it in a deal worth up to US$214 million.
Worth knowing
He has done the same thing four times over: first engineer or early team at companies that became very large, then founder twice. He knows what it takes to sell software into global banks and regulators, and how e-commerce advertising actually makes money. Founders raising at inception, and operators weighing a US move into fintech or commerce, should write.
Story
Rosco studied computer and electrical engineering at Waterloo and computer science at the University of Toronto, then joined Joe Lonsdale and Peter Thiel in 2009 to help build Clarium Capital, scaling it from $1B to $8B. At Palantir he worked as an intrapreneur, launching revenue verticals past $100M in global banking and regulation and oversight, work that grew into Palantir Foundry. In 2016 he co-founded Perpetua with fellow Waterloo alum Joe Rideout, building AI-powered advertising software for e-commerce sellers and running it as CEO. He is chairman of Draper AI, invests as an angel, and now works from New York alongside founders at the earliest stage.
