Ben Baldwin is a four-time founder who built The Founder City Project into a peer community of more than 1,000 Toronto founders and teams.
Worth knowing
He raised a $7 million Series A and sold predictive hiring software to T-Mobile, Facebook, ADP, GlaxoSmithKline and McDonald's, so he knows both the enterprise sale and the venture round from the inside. He has spent a decade connecting founders to each other and to Fortune 500 executives who can open doors.
Story
Ben founded ClearFit around 1999 and ran the online predictive hiring and job-matching platform for seventeen years, raising a Series A from GrandBanks Capital and Relay Ventures along the way. The work left him with patents in predictive analytics for human behaviour and a clear view of what founders lack, which is other founders. So in 2016 he started The Founder City Project in Toronto. He went on to co-found ScaleDriver with Mike Shaver, matching Fortune 500 executives with founders, and he mentored across Next36, Founder Institute, Extreme Startups and Ryerson's Digital Media Zone. He now leads Upteaming, a goal-achievement and peer-support platform for founders and teams, from the Greater Toronto Area.
