Andrew Flett

general Partner

Victoria Canada

Andrew Flett invests in transportation technology at Mobility Impact Partners, and sat on the board of Fleetmatics when Verizon bought it for $2.4 billion.

Worth knowing

Andrew has spent close to thirty years doing buyouts, carveouts, growth equity and venture deals in the United States, Canada, Western Europe and Asia, and he knows the connected vehicle, fleet, communications and security software markets as both an investor and a director. He has taken companies from pre-seed cheques through to a multibillion-dollar strategic exit.

Story

Andrew trained as a mechanical engineer at the University of Victoria, then went to Wharton for finance and into private equity at Investcorp Technology Partners, where he became a Partner in 1998. Over the next seventeen years he backed and governed silicon, security and communications companies, from Magnum Semiconductor to FishNet Security and TelePacific. In 2015 he struck out on his own with Growth Control Capital, focused on connected vehicle technologies, and three years later became a General Partner at Mobility Impact Partners. He now invests across mobility from Victoria, British Columbia, the city where he got his engineering degree, and has kept building alongside the investing: he co-founded Samsar Resources to repurpose lithium-ion batteries and Ev.pro, and his 2023 pre-seed cheque into Ampathy came with a board seat.
