Rich knows how large Canadian corporates decide to invest, because he has set up and run that machinery twice, and he writes seed cheques into HealthTech, ClimateTech and enterprise companies himself. Story
Rich studied at Queen's University and began in private equity at Second City Capital Partners, buying majority positions in mid-market companies. In 2010 he started RecapHealth Ventures to back seed-stage founders in North America. From 2015 to 2021 he ran TELUS Ventures as President and Managing Partner, then left to return to RecapHealth. In 2024 he took on a second corporate mandate as Managing Partner of Roller Labs Ventures, Canadian Tire's venture fund, leading its investment in the content licensing marketplace Catch+Release. He remains closely tied to the BC technology community from Vancouver.
