Michael Liu organizes founder programming for Inception Studio in San Francisco and helped start Toronto Tech Fest, which has drawn more than 10,000 people to its events.
Worth knowing
Michael puts founders in rooms with each other for a living, running demo days, co-founder matching programs and hackathons on both sides of the border, and he brought the first Toronto buildathon together in 2025. He knows who is building what in the Bay Area AI scene and how to reach them. Worth writing to if you are a Canadian founder heading to San Francisco, or looking for a co-founder.
Story
Michael started Erdos Ventures in 2020, building niche e-commerce brands as founder and CEO, with earlier stints at StartX and the B2B lead-generation startup Virio. In September 2022 he became one of the initiators of Toronto Tech Fest, which grew under the Canadian non-profit Aceocial into more than 50 events run with Fortune 500 partners. He now works alongside John Whaley and Mike Morris, hosting cohort showcases and demo days, and in 2025 the three of them ran the studio's first AI Buildathon in Toronto.
