Karen Olsson leads Atomic47 Labs, the Kelowna applied AI company building systems for oil and gas, pharma, healthcare and defence.
Worth knowing
Karen has taken AI products into industries where compliance decides everything, including a quality-control system for industrial construction and a project-visibility tool that runs inside a company's own environment. She has also done the operator's work of scaling a startup from six people to forty, raising seed money and quadrupling revenue.
Story
Karen spent almost ten years in technology recruitment before moving into operating roles, first founding a convergent media company that reached multi-million dollar revenue and 30 employees in under two years. As COO of Two Hat Security, the contextual AI chat-filtering company, she rebranded the product and grew the business. In 2017 she co-founded BlockAble, where a 15-person team brought a $10 million service company to market in roughly 90 days. She started Atomic47 Labs in Kelowna in 2018 and has built it into a systems integrator shipping its own products: Worksona, an agent-based model using customizable personas, and ProjectState, which gives leadership teams a read on project timing and risk. The company is now partnering with Indigenous-owned Robson Inc. on sovereign Canadian AI, and moving toward a platform-first model.
