Jeanne Lam

Worth knowing

She has owned the P&L of a consumer platform at global scale and steered it through a cross-border acquisition by a South Korean parent, then carried that growth playbook into online lending and credit inclusion. She also helped build one of Canada's clearest efforts to open tech leadership to racialized founders and operators.

Story

Jeanne spent roughly seven years at Wattpad, the Toronto storytelling platform, and was elevated from within to lead it in September 2021 after Naver Corporation bought the company for more than $754 million CAD. In May 2022 she took over day-to-day operations from founding CEO Allen Lau, reporting into Webtoon Americas, with readership climbing to 94 million. She left at the end of that year. Since November 2024 she has been at Propel Holdings, the Toronto-headquartered public fintech whose AI-powered lending platform is built around credit inclusion, where she runs growth and global marketing. She stays close to the Canadian investing community, most recently moderating a panel with VCs from BDC Thrive, Northleaf Capital, Golden Ventures and Amplify Capital.
