James Donald is a finance operations leader in Waterloo who spent nearly three years building global procure-to-pay at AI chip company Tenstorrent.
Worth knowing
Colleagues call him the closer every procure-to-pay team needs: he has run global P2P, shared services, finance systems and controls, and knows what it takes to put ERP and automation behind a fast-growing company's back office. Worth a note if you are a Canadian founder or CFO standing up finance operations, cleaning up payables, or choosing and implementing an ERP.
Story
James began in accounting and accounts payable in India, moving into shared services, ERP, automation and transformation work. From Waterloo, he has since led global procure-to-pay, finance operations, systems, controls and the teams behind them, most recently at Tenstorrent, where he spent close to three years through 2025.
In James's words
I started in accounting and AP in India, growing into shared services, ERP, automation and transformation roles. Moving to Canada meant rebuilding my career in a new market. Since then, I’ve led global P2P, finance operations, systems, controls and teams—solving complex business problems.
