Work and impact
Adey founded and led Consilient Technologies, a St. John's, Newfoundland software company that partnered with BlackBerry to extend push email to Groupwise, Sun and Oracle platforms and sold to customers including Barrick Gold, the City of New York, Google, the U.S. Department of Justice and Alcatel, as well as telecom carriers such as SingTel, AIS and Motorola Brazil. Before Consilient he was the first sales employee at satellite communications firm Stratos Global, rising to a vice-president role, and he later held a regional leadership post in the United States with Ericsson's consumer and business applications unit. More recently he has served as Vice-President of Digital at Trimac Transportation, one of North America's largest bulk trucking companies, speaking publicly about technology, automation and driver safety in the trucking industry, and has been associated with the McVestCo venture investment group on logistics technology. He has also given back to the Newfoundland innovation ecosystem as chair of Memorial University's Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science advisory committee and as a board member of the Genesis Centre startup incubator.
Canadian story
Adey is a Newfoundlander and a Bachelor of Commerce graduate of Memorial University in St. John's, where he built Consilient Technologies into an exporter of Canadian-made software. His career in satellite communications, enterprise software and, more recently, transportation technology took him to the United States, where he is now based in Bozeman, Montana, while retaining strong ties to the Atlantic Canadian startup community through Memorial University and the Genesis Centre.
