Few Canadians know the Asia-Pacific capital markets as well: he spent nearly two decades putting TPG's money to work across the region from Hong Kong, Singapore and San Francisco, after running Goldman Sachs's investment banking there. He has also sat on the Canadian side of the table, on boards and in trade diplomacy.

Story

Tim went to Asia in 1995 to rebuild Goldman Sachs's business and reputation in the region, and stayed. He joined TPG in 2004, rose to Partner and a seat on the Management Committee, and retired as Chairman of TPG Asia in October 2022. He remains a Senior Advisor to TPG Global. Canada stayed close throughout. He was appointed by Prime Minister Trudeau in 2021 to represent the country on the APEC Business Advisory Council, where he co-chaired the working group on regional economic integration. He is a ski racing man: since 2019 he has chaired Alpine Canada Alpin, the national body for alpine, para-alpine and ski cross high-performance racing.
