Jay places senior leaders for Canadian companies from Toronto, New York, Calgary, San Francisco, Hong Kong and Mumbai, and has spent two decades learning who actually gets considered for the top roles and who gets overlooked. He also invests in and advises early-stage companies. Founders building out a leadership team or a board, and investors looking for operators, should write.

Story

Jay studied philosophy and then both civil and common law at McGill, where he met Irwin Cotler, the mentor he still credits. He went into executive search at Korn Ferry, the largest firm in the business, and left in 2004 to start his own. Two years later he began publishing the Rosenzweig Report, which tracks the share of top-paid leadership roles held by women at Canada's 100 largest public companies. The number has moved slowly and sometimes backward: 9% of senior management in the 13th edition, and a drop from 9.96% to 7.99% in 2020. Jane Goodall, Sheryl Sandberg, Justin Trudeau, Mark Cuban and Scott Galloway have contributed to it. He now runs the firm from Toronto and keeps the count going.
