Worth knowing

Dean's working life has been spent introducing entrepreneurs to each other, first through peer communities and now through a deal network that reaches investors and family offices on both sides of the Pacific. He also advises companies on revenue growth, talent and raising capital, with active interests in heart health med tech, longevity, mining and real estate.

Story

Dean was the first full time management of the Entrepreneurs' Organization and spent the next two decades helping build EO and then YPO as head of entrepreneurship and innovation into the peer communities that shaped a generation of owner-operators. In 2018 he turned those relationships into International Deal Gateway, based in Vancouver, and he co-founded Venture Development Canucks, a Vancouver advisory firm working on growth, talent and capital. He now runs that work from Melbourne, where he chairs Wyndham Court Investments and Canuckaroos Ventures and has served as interim CEO for the US arm of Life Cykel. Somewhere along the way he finished an Ironman at 19, setting the bike record.

Canadian story

My family came to Canada in the 1800s from Iceland/Scotland.. Settled on Vancouver Island / Victoria. My great-grandfather was Captain Edward Gillam of the boat Maquinna, and he was referred to as the Great White Chief by the Nootka First Nations. My great-great-grandmother was Anne Harvey (Newfoundland Anne Harvey Days). My father, Vic Lindal, was Canada's national women's volleyball coach/Olympiic commentator. Grandad had a gold mine in Atlin, BC, and great-uncle Captain Otto Buchholtz went up against the Americans as he was a seal captain, and tied a U.S. Marshal up and set him adrift. My dad was in the Air Force; great-uncle fought in WW II. You will notice on Vancouver Island: Gillam Islands, Gillam Channell Buhholtz Chanell etc. He and I did an Ironman together at 50 and 18. I am a Father of 5 boys (dual CDN/Aus). Live in Melbourne with my wife of 28 years.
