Adam Gellert built HiredHippo, a marketplace where employers and candidates match on mutual interest instead of resumes, after fifteen years recruiting for Canadian startups.

Adam has been filling roles at early-stage and mid-sized companies on both sides of the border since 2009, so he knows what a small Canadian team can actually offer a candidate and how to close one. Story
Adam started in Toronto recruiting engineers at WeMovePeople, then went out on his own in 2009 with The Linkus Group, a recruitment agency serving startups and small and mid-sized businesses in Canada and the US. Years of watching good candidates get screened out by paperwork led him to build HiredHippo in 2017, a platform where the interest has to run both ways before anyone talks. Alongside it he co-created DisruptHR Vaughan in 2018, now DisruptHR GTA North, and took the stage himself in 2022 to talk about personal branding. He still runs both the agency and the platform from Toronto, and writes regularly about hiring.
